January

January is National Get Organized Month AND National Hobby Month.

Hmmm... sometimes, I think the 2 contradict themselves...

Resolutions, Revolutions & Theories

Recently I read a blurb about making 2010 my year for a "revolution" instead of a resolution. I like this idea and am going to run with it.

My revolution is a complete change - an overhaul, a makeover - of me. I need it. Somehow I've become nothing but a planner with a plan and not a planner with a plan of action. This has been going on for several years and it's time for a drastic, drastic change. Which may involve counseling, and that scares me very much.

But, obviously, what I've been doing isn't working so it's time to do something different. I need to go from list maker to risk taker. YIKES.

There it is: my revolution.

So here I sit, in very comfy clothes, my hair washed but undone, make-up free and with a slightly pounding, irritating headache which I'm not sure if I should blame on the 3 Mojitos I drank last night or this nutty weather we've been having... somehow crazy weather seems to follow my few & far-in-between Al K. Hall binges. Wierd how that happens.

Regardless, I'm happy at the moment, which is a relief considering my mopey mood yesterday and my fear that I had lost my zest for happiness, and have a theory to share... I should preface this theory with the fact that I've had this theory for a few years now & just got thru revolutionising that I need to change my previous bad habits of years past so perhaps this theory should be disregarded but I'm not quite there yet, but I digress.

My theory is that whatever you do on New Year's Day is indicative of how you'll spend your entire year. So, if I clean today, I'll clean all year. If I go shopping, I'll spend money all year. If I argue with my family, am sad, disappointed, daydream too much... well, you get the picture. So I'm ultra careful how I spend my New Year's Day. I'm relaxing and enjoying myself doing NOTHING. Now I don't think for a second that my year will be spend doing nothing. Exactly the opposite... I spend so much time spinning my wheels doing stuff that amounts to nothing that I'm determined today to only do what feels right to do. So posting a blog, catching up with friends on Facebook, sending a twit (yep, I twitted finally) and watching a very silly but lovely romantic comedy is exactly what my year to come has ordered. More me time, more happiness, less stress & worry about what is undone. THIS will be year for change and I am soooo looking forward to it!
