Christmas Eve Eve

Here we sit, on the Eve of Christmas Eve... for the first time in forever I'm ready to go! Everything is bought, everything is wrapped and I'm relaxing. All the decorations were put out and the cards sent on time. Two weeks off from work and I'm not reeling in anxiety over what awaits upon my return. What a great feeling!

unintentional experiment

Last week ended up being a hiatus for me from my "31 Day Challenge." Unintentional. But I learned something: I'm better when I'm intentional.

Dave Ramsey uses this philosophy alot (and I'm an avid fan of his). He tells us to have intention with our money. I've adopted it to: have intention with your time.

Whether or not I get everything done is not the purpose (believe it or not), but that I use my time wisely & purposefully.

So I'm back on the 31 Day Challenge but with a different focus: the 12 days of Christmas. I'm going to work (starting yesterday) until Christmas to spend my time with purpose & intention.

Sunday...

OK, so I didn't post yesterday but I don't care... I'm still on top of my 31-day challenge, believe it or not. Thinking, tho, that weekends might need to be hiatus days. Too hard to maintain a schedule.

Just a thought.

Another thought I had - omgosh, get this - is yet ANOTHER blog idea! Can I add one more thing to my plate???

Day 4

I'm here. With nothing to say. That's not good...

Day 3 = success

Still plugging along after 3 days. Yay is me! I'm beat, tho. Not much to write tonight. Need to do a brain dump. Bad.

Elaborating

I stumbled upon the 31 day challenge surfing the 'net. The article was about people committing to one change to their lifestyle everyday for 31 days straight. I go into it thinking it would be about dietariy changes & exercise, but to my surprise it went beyond that. Probably the most interesting was the woman who committed to wearing lipstick everyday.

Pretty simple, huh?

This got me thinking about what I could commit to for 31 days... I ruled out wearing lipstick every day! I am NOT much for wearing make-up. Then it occured to me that this is probably exactly what I should commit to... something I've gotten lazy about.

Hmmm.

My list became quite long as I pondered and in the end it boiled down to DISCIPLINE. I realized I've become quite lax over the past several years. Dishes pile up in the sink over several days, the bed will go unmade all week, my clothes accumulate on the closet floor as I change from one outfit to the next, sometimes I just don't feel like washing my face before bed!

So, my 31 day challenge has been about doing alot of things - things I should already be doing but had given myself a pass on. I'm still not getting up a half hour early to go for a walk, but things are getting done: laundry, dishes, daily straightening up...

Still my biggest challenge (ok, I know it's only been 2 days!) is "dressing me up" - taking the time to fix my hair, put on make-up and making sure clothes match. Going to get my "girl" back on. ;)

31 Day Challenge

I've gone thru some major adjustments these past several weeks and I've had some epiphanies and revelations along the way... one thing I've admitted to myself is that I lack serious discipline.

In a profession that requires I teach & coach discipline, this seems quite ironic. But I've realized that my lifestyle of late has made my success as an organizer impossible. This blog for instance: I've lacked the time to commit to putting it together & updating it on a regular basis and therefore, I've failed. Simple as that.

One thing that stops me from blogging is not having the TIME to put my thoughts into coherent order. I'm a proofer and editor... over & over again. Takes more forever to get to publishing state (this goes for emails as well). So I'm putting myself on a 31-day challenge to blog everyday.

I almost didn't make today, FYI - yes, failing my first day! I let everything else on the to-do-list take precendence and was about to turn in without doing the blog, thinking "I'll start tomorrow." Well, as you can see, I've changed my mind. It's past midnight now but I'm still counting this as 12/1 since I started before midnight. And I'm not proofing & editing. I'm just going to publish as is. And it is what it is so here goes.
